Insider explains why Warriors will go 'big-game hunting' this offseason

Over the past decade, the Golden State Warriors have been a staple in the NBA playoffs. It’s unusual for them to have been eliminated from contention before the calendar turned to May. 

For that reason, ESPN’s Ramona Shelburne feels the Warriors could go “big-game hunting” during the free-agent signing period. Shelburne was a guest on 95.7 The Game in San Francisco with "Willard & Dibs" when she dropped this nugget. 

"Last time I was on the show with you I mentioned I thought they'd go big-game hunting, I still think that, that's how [the Warriors] roll. Let's see what they're able to pull off. They're going to have to get creative, they're going to have to work hard for it. I don't see any world in which they trot back out the same team and hope it goes better,” Shelburne said on the show (via Yahoo Sports).

While it’s only been two years since Golden State’s last title run, this prediction should put the wind back in the fan base's sails around the Bay Area. Although the Warriors did win 46 games this season, it was only good enough for a 10th-place finish in the Western Conference. 

After being eliminated by their Northern California rival, the Sacramento Kings, in the play-in tournament, the Warriors now look to retool around Stephen Curry, in hopes of seriously competing for another championship.

"I think they make some changes and try to get this team better. You just don't have a guy like Steph Curry on your team and a mediocre cast around him. You just don't do that," she added.
