NBA Rumors: Serge Ibaka Could Join Warriors
Jerome Miron-USA TODAY Sports

Serge Ibaka and the Milwaukee Bucks have agreed to a trade and Golden State is looked at as one of the potential destinations.

The Golden State Warriors are one of the preferred landing spots for Milwaukee Bucks' big man Serge Ibaka after he and the franchise agreed on a trade.

The 33-year-old Ibaka was traded to Milwaukee last season after he started off his season with the Los Angeles Clippers. He has suited up for 35 games with the side averaging 5.7 points and 4.1 rebounds.

Now, the 2019 NBA Champion believes he still has enough to contribute, and according to Sports Illustrated's Brett Siegel, he may have the perfect spot in the Bay Area.

While James Wiseman, Jonathan Kuminga, and Moses Moody are considered vital cogs in the Warriors' future, the team might look at roping in the center as they look to defend their title this season, and the analyst believes that they might be interested in acquiring Ibaka's services.

One of the glaring weaknesses of the Warriors right now lies in their frontcourt, a weakness that has been present for quite some time, and with both JaMychal Green and James Wiseman dealing with injuries, they have been left very thin behind Kevon Looney and Draymond Green.

He added that Ibaka could be one of their bench options and since they do have an open spot, they could offer the center who's on a minimum contract and rope him without worrying about a matching salary.

Stephen Curry Might Force The Front Office To Re-Think Not Trading Away Their Young Roster

The Warriors haven't had the greatest of runs this season. They are placed seventh in the West with a 25-24 record and are a far cry from the elite unit that they were last season.

This led NBA insider Sean Deveny from Heavy to suggest that Stephen Curry might force the front office to reconsider their strategy of not shipping away some of the younger members of the team.

The Warriors need help up front, but there is some panic within the organization about the fact that the team’s bench has just not come together this year. Ownership remains reluctant to break up the young trio of James Wiseman, Moses Moody and Jonathan Kuminga, but some strong internal voices could force a rethink on that.

Who? Easy: “Steph Curry,” the executive said. “If he says to ownership, ‘You’ve got to get some help for right now, not for down the road,’ then that will go a long way. There’s only a few players you absolutely have to listen to, and Steph is one. Beasley would be a good bench piece for them if they wanted to trade off one of the young guys.”

In Ibaka, the Warriors will get a player capable of coming off the bench and making an instant impact. With his limited time with the Bucks, a new franchise just might be what the center needs to jumpstart his career as well.

On the game front, the Warriors will play the Oklahoma City Thunder next and follow it up with a clash against the Minnesota Timberwolves.
